One Test, Two Distinct Goals

The TEF comes in several versions tailored to different countries' requirements. TEF Canada is specifically designed for Canadian immigration programs, while TEF France meets the criteria of the French administration for residence permits and naturalization.

TEF Canada: Key Features

TEF Canada evaluates four skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. Results are converted into Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) for use in immigration applications through Express Entry or the Skilled Workers Program.

TEF for France

In France, two specific versions exist: TEF for the resident card (assessing B1 level) and TEF for naturalization (focusing on B1 oral skills). Results are expressed in CEFR levels and must be less than two years old.

Can I Use One TEF for Both Countries?

No, each version is distinct and recognized only by its corresponding country. If you are considering immigration to both countries, you will need to take the appropriate version for each destination.
